Being a conductor of (symphonic) wind bands, Luc Scholtes has been coached by Guido Swelsen and the internationally acclaimed conductor Jan Cober, and attended masterclasses by Ivan Meylemans and Philip Harper, amongst others. Luc was appointed as conductor of Harmonie Excelsior Nijswiller in 2018, and got awarded the same position at Harmonie Sint Antonius Lomm in 2021 and at Harmonie Sint Martinus Vijlen in 2023. With these ensembles, the emphasis lies on organizing themed concerts and multidisciplinary productions, in order to reach a wide audience in the communities in question. The bands continuously work to improve their musical standard, for example by participating in adjudicated concerts, where they have consistently received the rating 'good' or 'very good' so far. Besides that, Luc regularly works as a guest conductor with various (symphonic) wind bands, such as Koninklijke Harmonie Sainte Cécile Eijsden, Harmonie Sint Jozef Kaalheide, Fanfare De Maasgalm Elsloo, Musica Rura and Fanfare Sint Joseph Pey.
